This spell is designed to help stop the spread of gossip without harming anyone or interfering with free will, and so while you cast it be sure that you are not focusing on any individuals or thinking of specific ways that the gossip might stop unless those ways do not harm or manipulate anyone. Do not cast this spell if you cannot manage to keep your mind away from vindictive thoughts. You must be calm and objective. Needed:

• A candle (white for protection and general use, black for banishing and protection, or red or green to represent the gossip itself). Smaller is better, because it will burn down more quickly.
• Something with which to carve symbols and words into the candle

Cast a circle. Clear your mind of any negative or distracting emotions or thoughts. Carve a few symbols or words into the candle that represent your intentions. Be sure to carve at least the words “harm none” or the pentacle (as a representation of the Wiccan rede) to make sure that the spell does not harm or interfere with anyone’s free will. The goal is to affect the power of the gossip itself, and not to interfere with the will or well-being of the people spreading it.

Gaze at the flame and focus on what you want to have happen: the gossip stopping. Imagine it fizzling out quickly, and not continuing to spread. Think of the gossip, not any people. When you’re ready, speak the following words:

I’ve lately been made victim of some fabricated lies
This slander has brought scorn and hate, but with this spell it dies
Gossip spreads like fire, and it scorches like a flame
But all candles burn out, so may the gossip do the same

Imagine the gossip doing the same thing as a candle: burning down and, eventually, burning itself out. This process happens naturally with all gossip, and so will it to happen quickly. Push your intentions into the candle and say:

I will it so with harm to none; so may it be, my will be done.

Let the candle burn out. It is a good sign if it naturally goes out before it’s completely burned down. When it’s stopped burning, bury whatever is left of the candle.
