Welcome

The world we live in is in such fast pace often we are forced to hide and bottle the way we feel. It causes anger outbursts, it causes people being hurt and it causes trauma.

Many of us have experienced painful events in our lives that left us scarred deep inside. With an invisible pain no one knows anything about. On the outside seem perfectly fine and on the inside bleeding to death.

Shields and walls all around our hearts, masks on the face only to hide and protect that child inside, the little bit of whats left of ourselves after the world smashed it.

We all have pains and hurts most of us never talk about it, because we dont want to burdain others with our pain, we already feel like we are too much for people. Also when we do people dont understand and judge us and give the usual:

" You should go out more" and " its just in your head"

This is a safe space where we can ask for help and share what worked for us. So our pain is shared and we help others to soften theirs.

Here you can be yourself and you will not be judged, you can come for help or just to rant and get anything off your chest.

BLACK DOG ABYSS

I stand at the edge of a great abyss, the colour as dark as coal....…
a gathering of black dogs behind me.
My mind is fractured, slowly breaking into individual pieces,
each piece being precariously linked to one of the black dogs.
Emotions are a raging anxiety slowly dissipating and being replaced by numbing madness.
The abyss offers itself as the one true relief of all my pain and as if a living entity,
whispers to me of a soothing darkness devoid of pain, devoid of sound.
Beckoning gently as the dogs at my back slink slowly closer.
With a single step I am free from a lifetime of disappointment, despair, loneliness and unfulfilled dreams.
The enveloping darkness offers comfort, quiet and unconditional nothing.
Peace at long last.

PART 2:

That helps to control what I am feeling, so that I can feel relaxed and calm instead of afraid. Then I no longer have the desire to run away as fast as I can, and am able to tolerate getting through whatever it is I'm doing.

Today I left my cellphone at home when I went out, so that while I waiting for my sammich, I couldn't use my cell phone as a coping mechanism, and had to use my other coping skills to stay calm while alone in public.

It was a 30 minute baby step, but it was an achievement for me. Being able to recognize how these functions affect each other, and how to separate them, in order to prevent a negative chain of events, is a key part of how I've been retraining my mind to heal from, and live with, my emotional and mental health disorders without being on prescription medications.

PART 1:
I wanted to share something I wrote in class today in case it could help some of you who struggle too <3

"While thinking, feeling and desire are 3 different reactions, they are connected and trigger one into the other, like dominoes. If you start to think that people around you are staring at you and whispering or making rude comments, you start to feel anxiety, panic and insecurity, which leads you to develop the desire to leave and be by yourself immediately back home, where you can feel safe and secure.

Okay, that's what I deal with everytime I go out in public to run an errand or something. How I've been learning to manage this by re-training my brain.

When I start to have insecure thoughts brought on from my PTSD disorders in public, I start to use grounding techniques and deep breathing. I make myself recognize the smells in the air, the sounds, the colors of things around me, the shapes of the clouds, the vibration of the trucks driving down the road, the feel of the wind, etc...

I also start to repeat to myself in my head, "You're okay, you're safe, nobody is going to try to hurt you, nobody is talking about you; this is your PTSD, anxiety and panic disorders acting up; just breath, you're fine.".

I miss my cats and dogs very much. At one time I had 3 cats. My last dog belonged to someone else but it didn't matter, I walked her every day. When Sphinx, my last cat, died many years ago after a good long life, I took it to mean that I could be less domestic, travel more, and not worry about people tending to my place. Dogs can always tell when I walk by that I'm fun.

I'm sure they do.  Cats' minds are so simple and easy to read.  All they care about are food, water, a place to eliminate, something to play with, and getting attention and scritches.  My therapist declared my cat an emotional support animal.
