This time In  Nepali and Indian Date "Shivaratri festival" Falls on  2069 Falgun 27 (२०६९ साल फाल्गुन २७ गते)  and in English Date it falls on 2013 March 10.This blog is about greatest day ,night and Festival of Lord Shiva (shree pashupatinath).The Sanskrit hindu words Shivaratri simply mean Shiva+ratri where Ratri denotes night.So this festival is also known as night of lord shiva.

 Shivaratri festival falls on every years in Krishna Chaturdashi in the month of Falgun(Feb-March)  which is before 1 day of 14th dark moon. Sometime only it falls few days soon or late . This time in 2013 Shivaratri festival will be celebrated worldwide by every hindus in 2013  March 10 .

Pashupatinath temple Nepal - On this day day thousand of devotees from Nepal,India including Sadhus,Naga Baba,Swami ji filled in pashupatinath temple.All the building and Area of pashupatinath is filled with devotees.A small bonfire is made in pashupatinath.In many localities of kathmandu people mostly children sit and warm around the bonafires.

Special worship to pashupatinath takes place on this day at 12 o clock night and all the four doors of the main temple of pashupatinath are opened whole night. Rudri mantra is enchanted  and Bhogs are offered to Lord pashupatinath.Nepal Army pay homage to lord pashupatinath by volleys of gun fires at Tundikhel parade ground in kathmandu.

Shivaratri story and Legend - Different history is found regarding shivaratri festival.About Shivaratri Origin once Hunter in jungle was full of tired and waiting for hunting by sitting on trees. Hunter was throwing leaves on ground whose leaves went to Shivalinga.Shivalinga was hidden by leaves in jungle.Hunter realizes that his heart wish was fullfilled because this day was krishna chaturdashi,Shivaratri and the tree he was sitting and throwing leaves was belpatra leaves.So offering to lord shiva belpatra leaves this day fulfilled heart wish so belpatra leaves is also offered to lord shiva this day.Shivaratri festival is greatest festival of lord shree pashupatinath.

Importance of Shivaratri 

1 - Any one who offer holy water to lord shiva,take fast on shivaratri will be free from life cycle of trouble and unhappiness.

2 - Shivaratri is god shiva night. Any one who wakeup till night on this night and chant shiva will attain freedom from all sin and get chance to attain shiva dham(kailash).

3 - One will get sucess,happiness,wealth,power of good knowledge if somone makes happy to lord shiva in shivaratri day.

4 - Worshipping god pashupatinath,offering rudraksha and bel trees to shiva on this  day attain 1000 Cow donation,boon of feeding bhojan to 1000 brahmin.One will attain boon of 1000 holy piligrim journey if someone see only face of lord shiva in this day.

Rudraksha is direct symbol of pashupatinath.
