Happy Spring everyone!  May you experience much growth, beauty and productivity.

Cheers!

The weather seers are forecasting blue skies and a high of 93 degrees here in the Southwestern desert.  That's around 15 degrees warmer than the average.  It hasn't been this warm, this early, in 110 years.  Dear mother nature we don't need 9 months of summer...Thanks!

The wild flowers growing in our backyard are happy though.  :)

In other news I heard that Norway was awarded the #1 spot of Happiest Countries.  Congratulations to all of you lucky enough to live there.  I missed out on visiting Norway when I lived in Europe.  Definitely on my bucket list of places to visit.  The USA dropped a spot from last year to #14.  I wonder how they determine the ranks?

Here are 10 interesting facts about Norway:

  1. Norway’s national symbol is the lion  (ROAR!!)
  2. The cheese slicer was invented in Norway in 1925 by Thor Bjørklund.
  3. The official Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square in London has come from Norway every year since 1946.
  4. Norway is the world’s largest exporter of salmon.
  5. Trondheim, Norway, was one of Europe’s first wireless cities.
  6. Norway greatly impacted Western civilization during the Viking age, a period usually dated from the plundering of England’s Lindisfarne Monastery by Nordic pirates in A.D. 793.
  7. The Norwegians founded Dublin, Ireland, in A.D. 836.d
  8. Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter and printmaker, who is famous for his painting The Scream (1893).
  9. According to the 2013 Global Peace Index, Norway is one of the most peaceful countries in the world, ranking 11th out of 162 countries.
  10. Norway boasts of a very famous hot chocolate factory, Freia, immortalized in Norwegian-American author Roald Dahl’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Freia chocolate was one of the main sources of sustenance for Roald Amundsen on his journey to the South Pole. Amundsen planted the Norwegian flag at the South Pole in 1911 as the first man to reach the South Pole.

Spring

(Hermann Hesse)

Wandering in darkness under your high
vaulting branches, I have dreamed so long
of your green leaves and breezy blue sky,
the vibrant fragrances–and the bird song!

Now, as you open your robe of winter night,
your brilliance staggers every sense.
The world sparkles in the light
of a Miracle, your recurring presence.

I feel the healing touch
of softer days, warm and tender.
My limbs tremble–happily, too much–
as I stand inside your splendor.

Have a great week and awesome start to Spring time everyone!  Much love and light...

I leave you with a picture of my bashful and beautiful dog..
