that is really a personal decision, so how to go about it is up to each individual (even whether you decide to assume a magickal name or motto at all).
your magickal name is more or less an identifier one uses to denote a change in operation from the mundane to the sacred, sorta like a pen name used by an author or the name that a pro wrestler uses when he's working an event LoL. this is also one reason for using a language other than the one you speak daily (like how Catholic mass used to be performed in Latin only)
