I haven't been on this site in quie a while. I learned to crochet last summer and I spend a lot of time doing that. It is kind of adicting. I lost my tarantula, Lucky, about a month ago. She was 18 years old. She had quit eating for several months, and then she died. I put her body at the edge of the lake behind my apartment one snowy, cold day. I'm not going to get another tarantula. I gave the aquarium she lived in all those years to Goodwill.
Last year I had to take in a cat that my ex-husband had. We had gotten her and her sister from a shelter 5 years earlier. When we divorced he kept the cats because he was very attached and lonely. Esse', the larger of the two, began viciously attacking Holmes, the smaller, shy one. My ex was at his wits end, ready to take Esse' to the shelter so I took her instead. So I have 2 cats, Thunder and Esse', and my dog Barkley. It took a while but now the cats get along great.
Barkley really tore up my apartment because of his severe separation anxiety. I eventually got him a crate that he can't escape. It cost a bundle but he stays in it. But now he has started snapping at my grandsons when they are over so I'm trying to address that.
Not much else to tell but I am not on the computer as much anymore but I'll try to get on here more often.

Comment by ShenShen on February 7, 2013 at 8:28am Sorry to hear about your tarantula. I have a twelve year old and can understand the attachment! I also know where you're coming from with the snappy dog. I have recently had to have a strong conversation with my five year old about what is and isn't acceptable around the dog. Snapping is sometimes the only recourse a dog believes it has when kids don't respect their boundaries, so if that is the cause maybe a refresher of the rules with the grandkids could help. However if the snapping seems unprovoked I would make sure that the dog has enough exercise and also that the kids aren't petting the dog on any sore spots if he has them. If all else fails, you could try crating him when they are over and see how that works. Hope everything works out! :) <3
