- Why I want to join the Temple
- I received an invitation to join via Twitter. I am always looking to expand my horizons because no matter what my beliefs may be, there is always something else to learn.
- About Myself and My interests
- I study Mahabote, I wish to learn Greco-Roman Astrology and Jyotish. I have been a student of Tarot since 1989, runes since 1992, and Ogham and Numerology since 1994. I discovered fractals in 2002 and didn't realize until recently that everything I hold an interest in can be summed up as "sacred geometry". I consider myself an Odinist by belief system, although this does not mean that I give privilege to Odin, I'm more of a friggan heathen:) Others call it Asatru and some call it heathenry, and although many see these as three different words for the same thing, there are marked differences in approaches. In my spare time, I do a lot of creative work with fibre in the form of knitting and crocheting, I am currently exploring hex signs and mandalas as well. The Man and I make wine and beer, and try to grow as much of our own produce as we can during Manitoba's short growing season in our little urban back garden.
- My Teachers and Influences
- Nova Scotia, particularly Cape Breton where my family is from, and Halifax; this province and the ocean beside her have been the greatest teachers. Others include authors involved in the movements of Odinism, Asatru, and Druidry, as well as other groups and individuals sincerely dedicated to the restoration and evolution of the pre-Middle Eastern monotheistic beliefs of their peoples and stewardship of the earth. If that's you, then I think you rock:)
- My Goals
- To keep showing people how great it is to be a guerilla gardener because we need a strong grassroots movement to take back control of our food sources. I've been a trade school teacher and have noticed over the years that the younger generation is less and less prepared to take care of themselves with each year that passes, and more and more willing to give their power over to "experts" and this troubles me. We need to take back our self-sufficiency and learn how to function like our grandparents did.
- Authors and/or Books I appreciate
- The Book of Blotar - Odinic Rite Publications. This is the book that maps out the blots and festivals for the org that I belong to. Of all the books I have about Northern traditions, this one is falling apart the most:)
Thor and Audrey Sheil - their books are small and not the nitpicky scholarly tomes that seem to get most heathens off, but they are the quick and dirty version of heathenry and there is a lot of info packed into a little volume.
Serious Straw Bale - if you want a look at sustainable housing, take a look at this book.
Urban Homesteading - whether you believe in self-sufficiency, zombies, or you just think you might like some tomatoes in the front garden, this is a great book to start off with.

Numerology Volumes I & II - Matthew Oliver Goodwin. Out of print and hard to get but if you can, snatch them up and guard them zealously.
Numerology and The Divine Triangle - Faith Javane and Dusty Bunker
A Beginner's Guide: Numerology - Kristyna Arcarti. From a series of beginner books, this is a great quick and dirty introduction that a puts a lot into a few pages.
The Mahabote Families - Eric Solibakke. One of very few English language books in existence about Burmese Astrology.
- Music I appreciate
- Enya, The Rankins, The Dropkick Murphys, The Real McKenzies, Loreena McKennitt, The Reverend Horton Heat, Brian Adams, Neneh Cherry, Ke$ha (I know, I know, but we're all allowed a little bit of junk food now and then).....and many, many others.
- Movies and TV shows I appreciate
- You know, i don't really watch television that much. This year I turned on the tv a couple of times and saw Tent Women with massive mental malfunctions dressing their little three year old daughters up like sluts to put them on display in beauty pageants, some idiotic young man eating lightbulbs for attention, and a lovely young woman who was killing her insides by eating laundry detergent because she had insecurities. I remembered why I stopped watching tv in 1994 and turned the thing off.
