I'm 56 and live in a shack in the forest 2km from my nearest neihbour, on the North Coast of NSW about an Hours drive south of Byron Bay.
I live an "alternative" life. I'm off the grid. I make my own power. I have my own water supply. I built my house. I keep my interaction with the capitalist machine to a minimum.
I, like Leila, am on a disability pension for similar reasons.
When I was 25 I contracted Guillian Barre Syndrome, an autoimune disease that strips the Mylin from the perifferal nervous system leading to paralysis. I had a fairly severe case and needed life support for several months and extensive rehab for another couple of years before I was able to return to a "normal" life. Whilst on life support I suffered complications from intubation leading to the necessity of a cartilage graft in my throat to restore my airway. This has left me with damaged vocal cords and restricted breathing.
Whilst On life support, I experienced one of the deffining moments of my life. A near death experience bought about by oxygen deprivation due to ventilator malfunction. I experienced the "Peace that Passes all Understanding"
That was a long time ago in a Galaxy far far away,
I live life to the fullest. My limitations can mostly be worked around.I am living the best time of my life. I am here now.

Much of what goes on in interpersonal relationships is down to our species conditioning over the millions of years our line has been evolving. Most recently as primates.

When we have achieved a certain stage in the pursuit of happiness we identify as “I am Happy” rather than “I am unhappy”
We can be “I am happy but I'm feeling sad about such and such a situation” The reverse is also true of course. Even when we are identifying as being unhappy we still feel happy about certain things.
It is only natural to be affected by the trials and injustices of life, especially as we tend to become more sensitive to those trials and injustices…
