Open and honest

Firstly, my apologies again for not being on here often enough. Life has become complicated for me. While I am now jobless, I am working at publicizing my book as well as managing a band. I am also working on the follow-up.Now, on to the reason for this post. I'm just now hearing about the Pantheacon controversy. Since I was not there, and do not personally know the people involved, I will only offer my thoughts on what a Pagan community could be.One of the things which appeals to me about…See More

The Progression of Slaughter: Bigotry>Intolerance>Hate>Violence

I did something the other day which I was very reluctant to do: I de-friended someone on FB. The really hard part about it was that I have known this person for years. But three quarters of what he posted had to do with Islamic atrocities. While this much talk of violence is not healthy in itself, I would not have barred him because of it. Those acts do happen, and the extremists who perpetrate them should be punished. But the thrust of every single one of those posts was that all of Islam is…See More

On the Balance: Part 1

This is not from my current book but it is, partly, something I am am considering to be included in my next book. While you may point others in the direction of my blog, please do not copy or forward this. One of the things which I stress in teaching is maintaining a balance. There are three parts to the balance equation:PhysicalMentalSpiritualI'm not going to delve too deeply into the physical aspect. I will say that eating right has never been my strong point. However, slowly but surely, I…See More

Bittersweet

Life is bitter sweet. Yesterday was Easter spent at my niece Kim's house, today was my nephew Chris' b'day, tomorrow we pick up the ashes, Wed. is my b'day, and Thursday is my Mom's funeral. So, we're sitting in my sister Linda's kitchen making arrangements. She is on the phone and I'm looking at 3 chocolate bunny lollypops and a weird thought struck. Of course I had to share it. It looks like they had a stick up their asses. Some poor chocolate bunny hopping innocently along when Wham! It gets…See More

The Center of Spirit

Make yourself as comfortable as possible. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and hold it in for a count of two. When you release your breath, let it all out. Do this one more time. Picture yourself walking on a path through an open field on a twilight evening. The air is chilled but not cold. To your right you notice a fog beginning to roll in; emanating from an unseen body of water on the far side of the field. Think about what created the fog; the chill in the air combines with the water…See More

Dogma

From the Air section of my forthcoming book The Elemental Path:I am never going to say that this is how it is and should always be, and neither should you. That path leads only to obsession and dogma. While I am a firm believer in the scientific method, I also believe that there is no one right answer to everything. Of course, I may be wrong about that too.In his short story, “The Nine Billion Names of God,” the late Arthur C. Clarke writes about a lama from Tibet who approaches a computer…See More

Profile Information

Gender, any & all.
Male
Why I wish to join The Temple & how I found out about it...
For enlightening conversation and to expand my knowledge base.
About Myself & My Interests..
I am a teacher, soon-to-be-published author, and an employee of a national non-profit.
I have been an HP and teacher for over 15 years.
My book will be called The Elemental Path, and will contain musings, information, and pathworkings (guided meditations) on the Elements. I use the 5 Elements of Earth, Ar, Fire, Water and Spirit.
Although I was originally taught in the Celtic Druidic trad, my Spiritual interests are varied. I believe that many paths have a piece of the Truth.
My Teachers & Influences, What was it about them that influenced me?
My original teacher was the Lady Cijan, who gave me a base for my belief system. My influences outside of that are partially listed in the Authors and Books section.
Authors and/or Books I appreciate
As an author, my main influences lie in other authors: Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, Deepak Chopra, and Christopher Penczak to name a few.
Outside of the spiritual writings I enjoy science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Oddly enough my favorite books of all time are split between L.o.t.R., The Stand, Of Mice and Men, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Illustrated Man.
Ray Bradbury, author of the last but not least book in that list, is my main influence for the lyrical style I employ in writing my meditations.
I also should mention my friend Carrie Vaughn, author of the Kitty series, Dischord's Apple, and contributing author to the new incarnation of the Wildcard series.

Hey Marc, loss is always difficult, along with your book, even positive stress, well, it's a lot of stress, be gentle with yourself my friend.

Definitely don't consider it spam. Feel free to upload a pic of it to the photos if you like and when you have links to add to where to buy/read feel free to add them to the photo description too. Also feel free to pimp it in our ad section and/or in your personal blog. As long as you're not harassing members by emailing them at home, or sending bulk messages, or making a pest of yourself, but are being non-obtrusive and not pushy, I don't mind people gently promoting things that are related to what our members would be interested in.

My pleasure Marc, I know it's been an emotionally intense time for you as of late, I'm sure. Today must be difficult, and you're in my thoughts today, and I hope the year ahead is a good one for you, with many more to come.
