Ah the Saga.....
I have been on a cat family roll the last 4 weeks. Benito and Diego had abscesses. Being an English major, I thought Benito was in worse shape; it looked like it needed to be amputated. I took him to Dr Rebecca who neutered him, gave him shots, and attended his leg. I took him home, he was cooperative about resting. After two days, I checked him over and let him go. - My parents, my siblings, my sister in law Stephanie, Jesus, Gandhi, Buddha, hiking, camping, road trips, sitting. I have read a lot, I know I have teachers I cannot remember right now, names. Frank Carner, my mentor and advisor for my BA in English, he loved my anxiety, really, what more could a person want?

- Alice Walker always rises to the top. To this day, The Temple of My Familiar blows me away. Apparently it did not blow the "critics" away. The list is endless. I am a mystery junky for the wind down.

The Temple of My Familiar is a misunderstood book, I think, and that is why it was disliked by the critics--"too far out" we would have said in my youth in the 60's and 70's.
Similarly complex and far ranging, Anthony Burgess's "Earthly Powers" is derided because it is a "cultural history" of the 20th Century, deep, insightful, a "low reading." Yet a book to come back to every year, since there's always something to learn, or it is a spin-off to new research. Antonio
