The word Yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, language of ancient India.

We can think of the union occurring between the mind, body and spirit.

What is commonly referred to as "yoga" in terms of physical exercise can be more accurately described by the Sanskrit word asana, which refers to the practice of physical postures or poses.

Asana is only one of the eight "limbs" of yoga, the majority of which are more concerned with mental and spiritual well being than physical activity.

Here we discuss any aspects of yoga, physical, mental & spiritual yoga.

Today I finished the sessions on the chakras. These are not intended to be all inclusive information on the chakras, but to provide the novice with some basic ways to begin working with them on a practical level. Coldwaterhaven.com

This week on my blog, I am offering a variety of methods for svadyaya (self-study, one of the niyamas). Today I introduce the Five Love Languages. If you don't know about this, I certainly think it is one of the most helpful things I have found in the West that we can blend with our yogic knowledge in the classroom, making yoga more understandable to the Western mind. http://coldwaterhaven.wordpress.com/
