Usually unbeknownst to us, our subconscious is the true operator behind the scenes; the unseen magician with one too many tricks up his sleeve. It is said that the subconscious is not only the influence behind one's thoughts, habits, and actions but the keeper of our many underlying secrets, and getting our clutches on such cryptic information could open our eyes and grant us much power over ourselves that we can use to manipulate certain aspects of our lives—if one knows how to navigate through the subconscious's murky and practically bottomless depths without getting lost. The conscious mind doesn't, for sure. If you wish to understand the subconscious, you must think like the subconscious. You see, the conscious mind works with rational thought. It is voluntary, intentional. Not the subconscious. The subconscious understands and gathers a greater scope of information than the conscious mind does. It records feelings, images, symbols, patterns—it keeps track of every little detail that normally goes way over the conscious mind's head (yours!). Somehow, the subconscious manages to organize all this data in an interesting fashion. Think of dreams. We dream but we only ever recall bits and pieces, or nothing at all. From a logical perspective, dreams usually make little to no sense. But, when we think in terms of symbolism, the subconscious's favorite, dreams can make more sense than we realize. Take a dream about walking through a grassy field of snakes, for example. You're terrified, trying desperately not to step on or alarm a snake as you make your way towards the other side. Surprisingly, you aren't bitten or hissed at once. What does this mean in subconscious language? The subjectivity of symbolism aside, the basic interpretation warns that you may be undergoing a period of not walking on snakes, but eggshells. Now's the time to take precaution and monitor your words as well as associations. Keep your eyes peeled, watch your step, and you'll be safe.
What we've gathered from the extraordinary subconscious is the fact that it isn't as random as it seems. The subconscious urges and warns and hints in its own way. Additionally, the evidence points to a scary possibility that intuition and the subconscious may just go hand-in-hand. Could this possibly indicate that there really is some kind of sustained order we're not aware of? Questions and wonders that may never be answered—except, perhaps, if you look closely.

Most of us find comfort in turning on the ''auto pilot'' in our consciousness and simply glide through life unaware, wondering in dreamland, fast asleep.
We focus most of our energy (thoughts) on the past and the attempt to see into the future and even perhaps, alter the future, whilst walking asleep in our Now moment.
I challenge you yet today, to focus your mind to the Now moment. Your current feelings, your very own current thoughts, and the world around you as it is, rather than as you wish it was; and share with us how your world magically changes in front of your eyes - Be enlightened...
Hi Tegwedd, Freud referenced the unconscious in much the same way as others would reference the subconscious. To be aware of the subconscious, dimly or otherwise, would indicate conscious awareness. In fact, the two words "conscious" and "awareness" can be synonyms.
Comment by Tegwedd ShadowDancer on April 10, 2012 at 8:23pm I see the subconscious and the unconscious as being 2 separate, but closely associated parts of the total mind. We are dimly aware of the subconscious. It occurs to us in dreams, ideas, inspirations, etc. We are not aware of the unconscious, but things come out of it at unguarded moments. The sub- and unconscious are where our magick gets done.
Hi Alvin, I don't see any difference betweent he unconscious and the subconscious. If the subconscious mind is storing filtered information it is acting like the vault you describe the unconscious to be. As a hypnotist, I watch the subconscious in action with every client I hypnotize. I think the two words are merely a matter of semantics and preference.
