The Tree of Life - a compendium of science, psychology, philosophy & theology

The Tree of Life is the famous glyph of the Kabbalah and it is also perhaps one of the most comprehensive symbols known to humanity.

The Tree of Life reduces to diagrammatic form every force and factor
in the manifested universe and the soul of man; to correlate them
one to another and reveal them spread out as on a map
so that the relative positions of each unit can be seen
and the relations between them traced.

Pathwork: The role of Yesod in Reflecting Tiphareth?

I've been pondering the role of Yesod as a gatekeeper for Tiphareth recently, and thought I'd begin a discussion on the matter. How many of us, on reaching 'the sun' for the first time, realized, to our disappointment, that instead, we remain on the…Continue

Hello, everyone. I'm new to the group. In my first message I wanted to say that I'm enjoying The Alef-Beit by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh. I thought one way to enhance my knowledge of the Kabbalah is to go through the form, meaning and number value of each of the letters. It was published in '95. Has anyone read it?

Tau:

And the moon said unto me,

"In the grove there grows a tree. Oldest. Eldest. Ancient be.

Softly travel, down and dark, hollow deep in root and bark.

Temple, wander. Up float thee, unto the door that bears my mark."

@ Brian a foster  Hi Brian ! I also use this site http://edu.kabbalah.info/. It's where I got the videos for the discussion:

A Guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah by: Rav Michael Laitman, PhD (it's one of the first listed discussions here. There is also a 200 + page book with it to download there (it has great info to go with the videos). Also if you sign up on the site, there will be live seminars (free of course) starting in Jan. about Kabbalah (if you can't make the live feeds, they will have the videos to playback there, too).

Hope this helps !!

A Garden of Pomegranates by Israel Regardie is good; Joseph Lisiewski has a couple of good books out under the Original Falcon imprint; there's always AE Waite's Holy Kabbalah; there's a complete, on-line Zohar at www.kabbalah.com ; and Lon Milo also has some excellent stuff out there. You just have to get out there and look...Google away...

The Tree of Life – a Poem

Behold that before the emanations were emanated and the creatures were created,
The Upper Simple Light had filled the whole existence.
And there was no vacancy, such as an empty air, a hollow,
But all was filled with that Simple, Boundless Light.
And there was no such part as head, or end,
But everything was One, Simple Light, balanced evenly and equally,
And it was called “the Light of Ein Sof (Infinity).”
And when upon His simple will, came the desire to create the worlds and emanate the emanations,
To bring to light the perfection of His deeds, His names, His appellations,
Which was the cause of the creation of the worlds,
Then the Ein Sof restricted Himself, in His middle point, precisely at the center,
And He restricted that Light, and drew far off to the sides around that middle point.
And there remained an empty space, an empty air, a vacuum
Precisely from the middle point.
And that restriction was equally around that empty, middle point,
So that the space was evenly circled around it.
And after the restriction, when the vacant space remained empty
Precisely in the middle of the Light of Ein Sof,
A place was formed, where the Emanations, Creations, Formations, and Actions might reside.
Then from the Light of Ein Sof, a single line hung down from Above, lowered into that space.
And through that line, He emanated, created, formed, and made all the worlds.
Prior to these four worlds, there was one Light of Ein Sof, whose Name is One, in wondrous, hidden unity,
And even in the angles closest to Him
There is no force and no attainment in The Ein Sof,
As there is no mind of a created that could attain Him,
For He has no place, no boundary, no name.

Not sure about online resources, but the one book that really make kabbalah start to make SOME sense to me was Lon Milo DuQuette's The Chicken Qabala. Crowley's Book of Thoth (the book, not the deck) touches on cabbalistic correspondences with the Tarot, as does 777. (Actually lots of Uncle Al's work sheds light on the kabbalah but those are the first ones that come to mind.) Look - I managed to spell it all three ways :)
