The Sun is now in Taurus, an appropriate time for dealing with things that are material, grounded, and tangible. Use this spell to make a powerful protection amulet to place in your home. I have heard that traditionally Witch bottles were placed in chimneys, but not everyone has one of those these days. To make your Witch bottle, you will need:andbull; An empty, clear Christmas ornament(I prefer glass over plastic)or a small clear glass jar with a lidandbull; Some sea saltandbull; Some old rusty nailsandbull; Some black peppercornsandbull; A pinch of dried parsleyOne by one, add the ingredients to the container, saying:This strengthens and protectsme and all I hold dear.Close the top. Place the container in the chimney, under the stairs, in the crawl space, or under the stoop, or bury it in the soil. Do not speak of it and do not revisit it. Should you move, make another Witch bottle rather than take this one with you.
Magic is all around us, but we canandrsquo;t always see it. Today, look at the world through andldquo;magicalandrdquo; glasses. Look for signs, be aware of synchronicities, pay attention to symbols, and notice omens. If you receive $7.77 in change at the grocery store, go look up the magical significance of these numbers. If a fox darts across the road in front of you, seek the meaning of this totem animal. If the license plate on the car ahead of you says BELIEVE, pause and do that. If you find a twenty-dollar bill in the pocket of your jacket, count your blessings. When we open our eyes to see magic everywhere, the energy does not disappoint. The more we seek to see, the more we see. The more we seek to believe, the more we believe. And the more magic we practice, the more magic there is.Be the magic.
The full moon marks its maximum swell of energy. That makes today a good time for spells that benefit from high power. One option focuses on health and healing. You can recharge your bodyandrsquo;s energy reserves with moonlight. While this is no substitute for good self-care, it can give you a quick boost. Take advantage of the warming spring to bare some skin. A T-shirt and/or shorts will help you absorb more energy. Go outside when the moon is in the sky and stand in a place where the it can shine on you. Face the moon and say:Full moon, bright moon,Let me be your cup.Full moon, bright moon,Fill my body up.Feel the energy sinking into you. Turn your back to the moon and repeat the verse again. Visualize themoonlight boosting your health so your body can take good care of itself. Once you feel full, cover up and go back indoors.
While today is Earth Day, which brings attention to environmental issues on a global scale for one day, as Witches, it is vital that we be stewards of the land on a daily basis. We are a part of Earth, not separate from it. We can all tend to the spirits of the land around us, regardless of whether weandrsquo;re in a city, in the suburbs, or out in the woods. While we can make offerings to the land, such as gifts of water and native seeds, one of the best things we can do as human beings is gather and remove trash. This gesture may not seem like an offering, but it is an act of service and an offering of our time. One easy way to do this regularly is when you go on walks and hikes, always bring a compact reusable bag to collect items that can be recycled, as well as a disposable bag for trash that cannot. I guarantee the land spirits will appreciate your efforts, as will the plants, animals, and other visitors.
World Creativity and Innovation Day promotes the importance of fresh, new, and out-of-the-box thinking with regard to sustainability and climate change. Today, take a moment to come up with some creative ways you can personally support our beloved planet Earth. If weather permits, take a notebook or journal outside and sit on the grass or under a tree. (Otherwise find a comfy spot where you can gaze out the window.)Breathe and connect with the elements in your environment, one by one. First, earth: soil, rocks, plants, and trees. Then air: birds, insects, clouds, and the feeling of the air on your skin. Then fire: the sun and sunlight. Then water: any body of water or the awareness of moisture in the air, earth, and plants. Finally, spirit: the first four elements combined, as well as the conscious aliveness that interweaves all of it. Then contemplate how you can become an even better steward of the land and planet. List these ideas in your notebook. When this feels complete, thank each element in turn.
