Hello,

I had posted this on the Shamanic Path as well I hope that it is ok to have done this but given the strength of the feelings of loss inside me I look for help in any place that is open to sharing with me and I with you.

I believe I have as much capacity to give as I am in being a seeker of the Red Road where I truly believe I belong.

I learned at age 27 that my birth mother lied on my birth certificate saying that the person I grew up knowing as my father, wasn't and even then spent many years in a number of foster homes, all abusive in one way or another. In fact my birth father was a Sioux man, killed 20 years before on the Big Horn Reserve in Alberta, Canada. I was able to spend some time with my family there but there were many questions from cousins that they believed I was there only because I wanted something when the truth was is all I wanted was to know where I came from, who my father was and the truth of my heritage. Learning this made so much more sense to me because for years before, I found myself drawn to the traditional native ways. I spent three years living in the mountains, mostly alone and found great peace there. The Mother was my greatest teacher though I've learned from three Medicine Men and a number of Healers. I have so much more to learn, things that I believe that would again fill the emptiness inside. My Grandmother was a healer and my father as was his father before him. A number of years ago I was able to spend time with my uncle, and before him a Cree Shaman who taught me a lot, but was also amazed when he invited me to a Sweat Ceremony and because I was so naïve I told him all that I saw during the ceremony, he told me I should not be able to see the things I did. Then I began to tell him of one of the recurring dreams I'd had since childhood and before I could get to the second sentence he finished the details of the dream word for word. He told me that he had been waiting for me and that he built the Sweat Lodge on the place where my spirit stood three years before I ever met him. Its been strange for me because all the Medicine Men and Healers I've met have all known I was coming, referred to me as "the one" but would not tell me one what, that I would know when the time was right. Then 8 years ago I was injured, crippled from the waist down. Somewhere in all of this my dreams and sense of peace has been lost. I feel lost myself and so very empty.

Is there any one out there that may be willing to guide me?

Siyo James

Cherokee names are usually given shortly after birth by your maternal Grandmother. A name can later be given by the elders of a traditional community. So step one would be to become a part of a comunity. Even then it may take years before you aquire a name.

Wado for listening and for your understanding. Jisdu

When I was young I was brought to an old Nez Perce woman who taught me to walk on the golden path. since then I have and taken many paths that I should not of. recently I lost my 12-year-old son passed away Christmas Eve in the wake of this tragedy I'm looking for the golden path to walk down once more. I appreciate all the lessons and I'm finding many good people here in this group.

Siyo Elizabeth. I hope you will take my words with the kindness with which they are given. I like the sentiment of this poem. You may however wish to find other words for the woman described here. Cherokee do not now or ever have had royalty and therefore no Princesses. Also we do not have any distinction for women  that is the same as maiden. Ones being or not being a virgin is of very little concequense to Cherokee folks.  Wado for listening.

The Cherokee Maiden Princess
struggled to keep up with the band.
Why they had to travel so far,
she did not understand.

They traveled by night
and rested by day ...
Got up and moved
like cattle strayed.

Sometimes in the shade
of a tree they slept ...
and mostly she saw
that even wept.

Driven, driven,
onward through the cold.
No mercy for the little ones,
or the ones so very old.

They fell to the ground
like the mighty buffalo.
How much could they endure?
How much further could they go?

She summoned the mighty
to lead the best of the best ...
then she laid down
her weary soul to rest.

The youthful Cherokee maiden
did not give up her right.
Yet the spirits took her home
one cold, dark night.

Buried on the trail.
Her tears dried on the sand.
Taken beyond this earth
to the great spirit land.

If you go out tonight
and gaze at the clear black sky ...
you'll see the Maiden Of The Cherokee
as she sparkles on high.

Remember her story.
To others take time to tell
how she walked the Trail Of Tears,
now with the spirits she dwells.

One youthful Cherokee Princess
no longer resides on this earth,
but remember what she surrendered.
Our thoughts still give her worth.

I would like to say the word about over population It came from the Gov. If we worked together as a whole group everyone on this planet could have food. Why is it the farmers have been losing more and more money every year for a long time. (the Gov has been spraying their seeds) They get paid the least compared to a football player or even an actor. We allow it. Poor coutries could learn the right way to farm if man wasn't in to his own EGO. The weather would not be the way it is if man did not play with the wrong toys. All the bad chemicals and drugs instead of natural ones. For every sickness that gets created on this planet nature creates cure for it. Sadly they are always kept secret. It was not like that for the native people because they always found a cure. It takes them time. Man has been creating to many things to quick. The native people usually died of natural things or really different things like being run over by a buffalo. Falling off a cliff or even being shot by terrorists. They even had the ability to adjust to the forced weather they were put in. Even that now is killing the native people in SD and ND. Man has fallen asleep at the wheel and there is very little time to get back on the road. (Red Road) .

Greetings Tommy Hawksblood,

You speak words that I know.  Only few listen, but I see a reclaim coming to Mother Earth, my dreams don't tell me all but what I see is a war in our country brought on by greed.  Mother Earth is cleaning away some places that are over populated.  They take but don't give back.If you take all the fish what is left water that is dying.  You take away the trees what is left no oxygen to breath, no shelter among many other things.  We are killing Mother Earth, we are killing off us as humans.

I must not talk of all these things I see in dream time but it isn't good unless the world changes.

Blessings
