According to WikiPedia...
Robert Anton Wilson (born Robert Edward Wilson, January 18, 1932 – January 11, 2007) was an American author and polymath who became at various times a novelist, philosopher, psychologist, essayist, editor, playwright, futurist, civil libertarian[1] and self-described agnostic mystic. Recognized as an episkopos, pope, and saint of Discordianism, Wilson helped publicize the group through his writings, interviews, and strolls.
Wilson described his work as an "attempt to break down conditioned associations, to look at the world in a new way, with many models recognized as models or maps, and no one model elevated to the truth". His goal being "to try to get people into a state of generalized agnosticism, not agnosticism about God alone but agnosticism about everything".
Fnord to WikiPedia for summing up his life in the above paragraphs... The Chapel Perilous is now open for business. Hail Eris! Hail Discordia! Fnord 23 Skidoo!

Comment by Joseph Inzirillo on April 17, 2012 at 11:48am Gary, I don't think there is a RAW book that doesn't blow me away....
Comment by Leila Raven on November 19, 2011 at 3:28pm Well, he's had a profound influence on me also. I starting reading him many years ago, attended a talk he gave while in Vancouver once, and had a chance to meet and have my battered copy of the Illuminatus Trilogy signed. Life's never been the same since! lol.
The site's name is directly influenced from him and I consider him a 'patron saint' of the the site. *smile*

Comment by Gary Singh on November 12, 2011 at 9:03am I just reread Cosmic Trigger for probably the third time and I'm still blown away by it. Everybody is in there. Timothy Leary, Carl Sagan (before Cosmos), Aleister Crowley,Giordano Bruno, Paracelsus, quantum mechanics, etc. And the entire web of conspiracy that others later wrote about in Holy Blood, Holy Grail, which then surfaced again in the crappy Da Vinci Code stuff -- RAW wrote about ALL of that stuff years and years earlier.
The occult must have been much more fun in the 1970s. I wish I had been old enough...
Comment by kaosxmage on November 12, 2011 at 1:15am The Cosmic Trigger Vol. 1 is the first book I recommend to people embarking into the occult. R.A.W. remains one of my greatest inspirations. He was one of the greatest philosophers of our time.
