I'm a new member to this site. I'm also a member of the Empath Support Group. I was injured in a truck driving accident 7 years ago. I'm living with my 82 year old mother who is emotionally and psychologically abusing me. There is no place else I can live. I have an extremely high number of special needs. I will tell more about myself at a later time.
Comment by Amaranth Hart on December 29, 2012 at 10:48am I started having bizarre health problems in 2010, and after a year of doctor's appointments and testing it was decided I had fibromyalgia. I had some other issues that added to my problems, so I've been doing what I can to learn to manage everything. The biggest thing for me has been to correct my diet, which I talk about on blog (link below). I'm currently trying to balance staying healthy, managing the fibro., and being Mom to my partner's 2 year old. I'm really interested in paganism and other lifestyles/world views that focus on living in balance with the earth. The more I live my life in balance the happier and healthier I feel. :-)
This is where I've started chronicling my journey: An Open-Minded Journey
Comment by H Goudry on May 7, 2012 at 5:58pm Its been a while since I was here last. Am just recovering from a tsunami of depression. Am slowly recovering my humor and positiveness in my life.I used to have constant pain in my knees from osteoarthritis but changes in my diet and low doses of fish oil, vitamin D, and B complex has reduced my pain considerably. now my knees stiffen only in the morning ( where I have to first shuffle around like a 99 year old man) and after long periods of sitting. Even then my pain lessens quickly with movement.{hope this may work for you but no guarantees stephanie}
Hello. My name is Chris and I guess I'm a newbie here! *grin* I recieved an invite from Chronic Hope on Twitter and was excited about a place where I could discuss the things that were importanat to me without leaving my spiritual side out of it!
I am a wife, mother of four, blogger, and health activist. I was recently diagnoses with Systemic Scleroderma and Fibromyalgia. I do my best to live each day with joy and gratitude and to keep my twisted sense of humor intact!
Comment by Leila Raven on February 18, 2012 at 3:46pm Hi Margaret, I do think sometimes physical illnesses can be a reflections of, or connections to, energetic or spiritual imbalances or unresolved issues of a psychological nature in this or in other lives. I believe that we're complex beings where you cannot separate the physical, the mental/emotional/psychological, & the energetic/spiritual.
That being said, I think it's very individual in terms of whether a particular individuals health unbalance is initially caused. I do not think -all- cases of physical illness have a basis in psych or energy, I think the dynamic & relationship is different for everyone, & it's important to discover for oneself what one's particular illness journey is.
Sometimes I think chronic pain & illness may be caused by un-resolved past life issues. At other times I think they may have a very biological non-spiritual origin. At still other times, I think an impairment or imbalance in area can be a counter effect of over-activity in another area. For myself I feel much of my body 'weakness' is a result of too much 'psychic' energy.. ie... vibration, it has some benefits for me on a spiritual level, but a big impact on the physical. Those are only three factors, there are likely many others.. and many people likely have more than one contributing factor to an illness.
These things can sometimes be simple, & sometimes complex, one thing I don't believe in, is a one answer fits all approach. What's important ultimately is what works for us. So if YOU think this is something that might work for you, & you can afford it on whatever it may cost you, in terms of material costs, but also energetic costs, then definitely why not go for it.
I think the most important thing if you do decide to go for it is finding a practitioner whom you screen well first & feel a lot of trust in. Also if something doesn't 'feel' right.. trust yourself over any 'expert' ultimately when it comes to you.. you're the expert.
all the best,
gentle hugs,
Leila
Comment by Evolve_Dammit (Margaret) on February 18, 2012 at 1:10pm Good afternoon, friends! Hope everyone is having a relatively pain free day! I have been doing a lot of reading/research lately, and was wondering- has anyone heard of/tried/considered having a "past-life healing"? The idea behind this is that we can somehow carry over physical symptoms from our past-lives and they can cause serious chronic pain issues in our current lives, sometimes even causing issues that do not show up on current diagnostic tests. Any thoughts? I am seriously considering trying it, but wanted to see if anyone had tried it or had any info/experiences/advice they might care to share.
Comment by Leila Raven on February 18, 2012 at 11:07am Hey Caroline! welcome! It's good to have you here sharing with us. I just responded to your comment in the empathy group.. it's amazing how many people with CFS/fibro are also empathic.. I kind of over-all 'sensitivity' it seems.
There are many of us out here in the cyber ether who are dealing with some severe chronic health limitations... I very much agree. Our weaknesses are often where our greatest strengths end up coming from!
Bright Blessings, Leila
Comment by CazHekateLuna on February 13, 2012 at 5:26am Ive finally joined the group officially on here, as I was reminded on Twitter as to how I found the Temple in the first place.
Believe me we have a bit in common. I suffer from chronic pain due to CFS/fibro, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, hypothyroidism and asthma. Despite all that I am a practising Solitary Witch, I no longer work officially, but I am currently writing a novel and sometimes write for blogs on people's websites.
Always remember, what doesnt kill us, only makes us stronger witches, right!
Blessed Be from Caz xx
Comment by Leila Raven on February 9, 2012 at 11:06am Hey witchywillow, pain is different for everyone, it's impossible for us to know how much pain we experience compared to others, & how it affects us, is different, we all respond to, feel, & interpret pain differently, & there are many different kinds of pain!
What's relevant is that you have pain, that does affect you, & causes unwanted suffering. It's great that you've found out you've had a vitamin D deficiency & are able to correct that, I'm hoping that it gives you some improvement & eases your symptoms.
Many people find extra magnesium helps as well, it seems often people with pain seem to 'use more' of certain nutrients.
Making sure I get full nutrition, has really been critical for me, I still have pain, but it's a LOT worse if I'm not getting all that I need. I find food & supplements are a really big part of my pain management.
We often can't 'cure' ourselves through things like dietary changes, but we can make big improvements.
It's very easy to feel alone with pain.. pain is isolating. It often naturally also makes us want to withdraw. You're not alone. You're one of millions of people living with pain. You can find ways to get your pain 'managed' if you can't overcome it & live a very happy & productive life.
Be gentle with self.
*hugs*
