Turmeric & Black Pepper
"A tangy yellow South Asian spice used in curry dishes, turmeric has long been studied for its anticancer properties, anti-inflammatory effects, and tumor-fighting activities known in nutrition-speak as anti-angiogenesis. The active agent in the spice is a plant chemical, or polyphenol, called curcumin. One of the problems with using turmeric to improve your health, according to Kennedy, is its low bioavailability when eaten on its own. But there’s a solution, and it’s probably in your pantry. “Adding black pepper to turmeric or turmeric-spiced food enhances curcumin’s bioavailability by 1,000 times, due to black pepper’s hot property called piperine,” says Kennedy. “This is one reason, it’s thought, that curry has both turmeric (curcumin) and black pepper combined.” Translation: You’ll get the benefits of turmeric if you pepper up your curries."
Black pepper activates the Turmeric and keeps cancer away from the system. This is a potent antidote to the toxic side effects of environmental pollution . I add it to food while chanting one of my favourite healing mantras!

Comment by Zephonith. on June 12, 2013 at 6:28am I find that having a hot shower first thing in the morning, after waking and drinking at least a pint of water to flush out all toxins that have accumulated overnight works best for me.Then, I exercise and warm up the body and am able to cope better with the experiences of the day.
To avoid catching a flu or cold, or getting many allergies via air borne pollen ~ just breathe correctly. Breathe deeply into the belly through the nostrils, instead of through the mouth. The nose is designed to filter out particles and warm the air coming into the respiratory system; and 90% of illness is avoided in this way.
The Breath of Life ~ the Key to a long and upfull life
Inhale slowly through both nasal passages, keeping the mouth shut.
If the influx of air is stronger in either nostril, this means the nose is blocked, in which case, shake your hands rapidly with a loose wrist to unblock them, while inhaling through the nostrils.
Now, pop the belly subtly. This simple trick will allow some air into the normally air-starved lower lungs, already.
Now breathe in steadily for a count of six seconds or thereabouts. Hold the breath for three, and then release it gradually for a count of six seconds again, out through the nose and keeping the mouth closed... continue...
After a while your subconscious will pick this pattern of breathing up and it will become natural again, your own rhythm will be re-established in no time at all, and this will be in synch with the heartbeat of the Earth...
It's good to practice this consciously and in a focused way just before going to sleep at night and again first thing in the morning. One can experiment, counting upwards in increasing the time taken between inhaling and exhaling , for example, inhale for 6 ...hold for 3...exhale for six (three times in succession); inhale for 6; hold for 4; exhale for 6 and so until one is happy that the whole system is aerated as nature intended.
Most people just breathe in through their open mouths and thus there is no protection against any air-born virus or other common malady. Thank you again Medea for the link to that article, it makes good reading.
