Obtaining and connecting with a familiar spirit

Hi Raven,

 

   Well from my understanding & correct me if I'm wrong. A famailiar spirit is another name for servitors or an astral artifical entity. This entity is created from the energy-field of a well season practitioner & not for the meek. However in this case, a totem sounds more of what your describing.

No, I don't think this is anything like a servitor. I have worked with those before and this is something completely different. A familiar is not simply "created", it is found by the spellworker and a bond is established that strengthens over time. If you have ever seen The Crow, a good example of a familiar spirit would be the crow that follows Eric Draven everywhere. Or a witches black cat.

In doing some research, I found some interesting things about how one can obtain a familiar. It would seem that the best way for me to go about it would be to get my animal, which I would like a cat, at a young age just after it has been weaned. Perform rituals and ceremonies with the animal in the room, and you can even use the sound of the animal's breathing during meditation to help reach a state of trance.
During the waning cycle of the moon, bring the animal outside and face the horizon, stroking it firmly yet gently until it starts to purr/relax. Align your breathing with the animals and continue doing this until the moon is full in the sky at it's peak. After doing this for a while, a connection will begin to open up and you will find that your animal often knows your intentions and will act upon them without you even instructing it.
If the bond is strong enough, it is possible for the two to share vision and communicate telepathically.
Apparently if the animal is not willing to be a familiar, it is obvious.

Yes, I am hoping it happens that way for me. As of now I live with a roommate that has a big pit terrier so I am probably not going to get a kitten until I move out. In the meantime, I shall perform those meditations and hope that a familiar hears my calls and comes to me. 
Aside from the magickal aspect of it, I just really like animals, especially cats, and wouldn't mind having a feline companion to keep me entertained throughout the day.

Oh, and I would like to add that I found something about meditations that help you find your familiar naturally, or rather letting them find you. There is a lot of information out there on this when you really look hard and in the right places.

I have found that meditation helps in many aspects of my life, so it stands to reason that it would help in this matter. I will just let nature run its course, and when my familiar decides it's time, it will come to me.

Thank you very much, I would appreciate that. The power of the will is very strong and can call forth many things into existence, especially when more than one person is adding their strength.
I fully believe my familiar is out there, just waiting for the right time to present itself to me. :)

That works even better. I would love to be out of this apartment, lol. 
I have found in my experience that energy takes the path of least resistance, which is why it's always important to be concise in your intentions. Oftentimes magick manifests itself in very unpredictable ways, sometimes good, sometimes not so much.

At any rate, I am confident that my intentions will come through, both in finding better living arrangements and obtaining a familiar. It's all about dedication and good intentions.
